Northumberland has so much to offer, from industrial heritage to glorious gardens, splendid coastline to stunning forest there is something for everyone. Explore Alnwick Castle, home for over 700 years to the Percy family, and be inspired by Alnwick Gardens which, until 10 years ago were a derelict, forgotten wilderness. Visit Woodhorn Museum, formerly Woodhorn Colliery, the best surviving example of a late19th/20th century North East colliery, and then spend time in Morpeth, Finally, enjoy a visit to Keilder Water, the biggest man-made lake in Northern Europe, and Kielder Forest, the largest man-made woodland in England, home to roe deer, otters osprey and many other creatures before taking your seat for a spectacular flying display at the Kielder Water Birds of Prey Centre.

Day 1

This rather busy holiday starts with a pick up from home by one of our taxis or minibuses which will bring you through to the coach. Once everybody is on board the coach will head for our hotel at Gateshead, stopping in Durham at lunchtime. Once you have checked in an unpacked you can make use of the hotels leisure facilities before dinner and afterwards maybe go for a walk along the banks of the Tyne or even venture in to Newcastle.

Day 2

Today, we head for Keilder Water & Forest. At 250 square miles the forest is the largest in England whilst Keilder Water is the biggest man made lake in Northern Europe. An important red squirrel reserve, home to the largest remaining population of red squirrels in the country, the forest is also home to Northumberland's only breeding Osprey as well as otters goshawks and buzzards.
Keilder Water has 27 miles of spectacular shoreline surrounded by Pine Forest and heather moorland a huge contrast to the places you will visit later in the week. We take a short coffee stop at Tower Knowe Visitors Centre which affords magnificent views over Keilder Water before travelling up to Keilder Castle at the head of the Waters. Enjoy a Lakeside stroll, visit the red squirrel room and viewing hide, have something to eat and just soak up the tranquil atmosphere.
The final visit of the day is to the Keilder Water Birds of Prey Centre. Home to one of the largest Birds of Prey collections in the North of England including Owls, Vultures, Eagles, Hawks, Falcons and even a Pelican as well as two Fallow Deer and a family of wallabies. At 3pm you will be able to watch the flying display before returning to the hotel for dinner

Day 3

Once everybody has had breakfast we head north and pay a visit to Woodhorn Museum near Ashington. Formerly known as Woodhorn Colliery the site is the best surviving example of a late 19th/early 20th century colliery in the North East tradition whilst the Northumberland archives cover 800 years of the county's history, an amazing record of the past. The Great Woodhorn Tour, a guided tour of the museum and a behind the scenes visit to the archives is also included and lasts about one hour

Day 4

Our final visit is to Alnwick Castle and Gardens. One of the largest inhabited castles in Europe, Alnwick Castle has been home to the Percy family for more than 700 years. Today it is probably best known as one of the locations used in the Harry Potter films. Until about ten years ago, the gardens where derelict and forgotten. Today the garden is an inspiring landscape with beautiful gardens and unique features including a Treehouse & Poison Garden and magnificent architecture all brought to life with water. A guided tour with a Garden volunteer has been arranged after which you can enjoy the gardens at leisure before returning to the hotel for the final evening's dinner

Day 5

After breakfast we leave the hotel and make our way Richmond stopping here long enough for you to look round the many shops, the Abbey or the Castle as well as grabbing a bite to eat. Leaving Richmond mid afternoon, we expect to be back in Beverley about 5.30pm where one of our Door to Door vehicles will be waiting here to return you home.
