In addition to highlighting the stunning countryside and picturesque villages of the Ribble Valley, this tour includes a ride on the famous East Lancashire Railway to the delightful village of Rawtenstall in the Rossendale Valley and a Lune Aqueduct barge cruise on the Lancaster Canal. There is something for our food lovers too with a traditional lunch at the Olympus Fish and Chip Restaurant and a visit to the Chocolate House, well known in the North West for its handmade chocolates and truffles.

 

Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel Spa, Clayton Le Moors****

Built over 700 years ago. The original turret, wood panelled rooms and porticoes evoke memories of a bygone age. However, its modern facilities and furnishings provide guests with great comfort. There is an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room and fitness suite. All the bedrooms have hairdryer, tea/coffee facilities and TV. A lift services some rooms.

Day 1

Picked up from home by one of our Door to Door vehicles, you will be brought through to the coach and once everybody is on board, we head for Buxton calling here a break for lunch (not included in the cost of the holiday) will be taken

Day 2

First stop today is Oswaldtwistle Mills Shopping Village and Garden Centre. After browsing at leisure here, meet your guide for a tour of the Ribble Valley. On then to Bolton for a traditional lunch at the Olympus Fish & Chip Restaurant, a firm favourite of visitors to Bolton. Allow free time in the city centre this afternoon.

Day 3

Travel to Bury for some free time to explore the famous market. Board the East Lancashire Railway for the journey to the delightful village of Rawtenstall in the Rossendale Valley. This afternoon head to Blackburn for a visit to The Chocolate House, well known in the North West for their handmade chocolates and truffles.

Day 4

Following time at leisure in the popular seaside resort of Morecambe, travel to Lancaster for an included one- and three-quarter hour Lune Aqueduct cruise. See the Victorian city center before heading out into the countryside to the aqueduct. On a clear day, the view from this 100-foot monument will leave you astounded. Depending upon the operator's schedule (particularly weekends from May to Sept) the cruise may be a 50-minute horse-drawn barge cruise from Barton Grange Garden Centre.

Day 5

Breakfast over, we check out of the hotel and make our way over the moors to before its time to get back on the coach and return home. Arriving back you will be met by one of our Door to Door vehicles and returned to your front door
