Door to Door

South Devon beckons with classic seaside resorts, a stunning steam train journey and picturesque Dartmoor scenery. We start in the historic, maritime city of Plymouth, famous for Sir Frances Drake, who apparently finished a game of bowls on Plymouth Hoe, returning on a picturesque journey through the heart of the Dartmoor National Park. We board a steam train along a stunning stretch of coastline to Kingswear and enjoy a circular river cruise from Dartmouth, before finally enjoying some free time in Torquay and Paignton.

The Headland Hotel, Torquay***

Formerly the Russian Royal Family’s home in Torquay, it sits majestically looking out to sea. There is complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, and it has a lift. All rooms are en-suite and have flat-screen TV with Freeview, tea/coffee facilities and a hairdryer.

From Paignton, board a steam train along a stunning stretch of coastline to Kingswear, from where you catch the foot passenger ferry to the historic maritime town of Dartmouth, with its ancient narrow streets, boutique shops and art galleries. In the afternoon, you could enjoy spectacular views of castles, the Britannia Royal Naval College, Sir Walter Raleigh's Boathouse, Greenway Quay and the estate of the late Dame Agatha Christie, on a one hour circular harbour/river cruise from Dartmouth or continue to the historic town of Totnes.
