Cheshire & The Peak District

Cheshire & The Peak District

Door to door service

Door to door service

Cheshire has so many places of interest it is hard to know where to start. A visit to the Salt Works Museum for an insight into the life of a salt miner, is followed by a ride on the Anderton Boat Lift. By contrast, after a tour of the Peak District, we visit Haddon Hall, one of the most romantic houses in Britain, and then a scenic drive gives us views of the reservoirs of the Upper Derwent Valley. Rounding off this all too brief visit to Cheshire, we have a guided visit to Port Sunlight Museum and Garden Village, created in 1888 by William Hesketh Lever for his Sunlight soap factory workers.

Day 1

What better way to start your holiday than being picked up from your front door and brought to the coach. The coach heads for Matlock stopping here long enough for you to enjoy lunch before continuing on to Shrigley Hall Hotel, home for the next 4 nights. Once unpacked you can take a stroll through some of the hotels vast grounds, visit the gym or take a dip in the pool, all before dinner.

Day 2

Quarry Bank Mill is a beautifully preserved working cotton mill built in 1784 for the Greg family and which recently appeared in the Channel 4 drama series "The Mill". Your guided tour will show you what life was like for the pauper children who worked in the Mill and lived on the estate. Stroll to the village of Styal built by the Greg family to house their workers and visit the stunning gardens.

Day 3

We head out in to the Peak District today stopping first in Buxton before continuing on to Bakewell in the heart of the Peak District. We spend sufficient time here to explore this busy market town and grab a bite to eat before we return to the hotel through the Hope Valley with views of some of the reservoirs of the Upper Derwent Valley.

Day 4

Created in 1888 by William Hesketh Lever for his Sunlight soap factory worker, Port Sunlight Museum and Garden Village is another fine example of the forward thinking of many Victorian Industrialists. Beautifully preserved our guide will show you many places of both historical and interesting importance during the morning's tour. You then have plenty of time to explore the village at leisure before we return to the hotel.

Day 5

Breakfast over, we check out of the hotel and make our way over the moors to Haworth. You will have ample opportunity to explore, maybe visiting the Parsonage amongst other things before its time to get back on the coach and return to Beverley. Arriving back about 6pm, you will be met by one of our Door to Door vehicles and returned to your front door
