Come join us for a very unique tour to the Hebrides

Arriving on the incredible Hebridean Isles, you really will feel like you have escaped from it all as you explore breath-taking coasts and countryside, fascinating history and unique island cultures on this, quite literally, “breath of fresh air” tour.  We spend 5 days experiencing many of the different Isles with visits including entry to the Calanais Centre, a trip around the Gearrannan Backhouse Village, diverse landscapes and some refreshingly unspoilt scenery including all forms of wildlife.  A real gem and a tranquil break.

Dark Island Hotel, Benbecula**

This traditional 2-star hotel is located on the south island of Benbecula in a pleasant countryside location. A short stroll from the hotel is a fabulous tranquil beach where rare birds and wildlife can be seen. There is plenty of space in which to relax, both in the pub styled bar and the quiet exterior courtyard. Enjoy a hearty dinner in the large restaurant. The hotel does not have a lift but it does have ground floor rooms.  This is a real ‘get away from it all’ hotel that provides an opportunity to meet the locals who frequent the bar and restaurant. All bedrooms have TV, tea and coffee facilities and hairdryer.

Caladh Inn, Stornaway**

This very friendly 2-star hotel is in the heart of Stornoway. Owned by the same family for over 20 years, the Caladh Inn provides a warm welcome. The hotel has a small, traditional bar and separate lounge in which to relax. Enjoy your dinner in the downstairs light and airy hotel restaurant specialising in seafood, mostly caught locally. Day 2

Arrival on the Isle of Benbecula
Today, we travel through the spectacular Scottish Highlands towards the Kyle of Lochalsh and the Isle of Skye with a photo opportunity en route at the beautiful Eilean Donan Castle. Situated on an island at the point where three sea lochs meet, Eilean Donan is one of the most iconic images of Scotland. From the Kyle of Lochalsh, we cross the magnificent Skye road bridge onto the Isle of Skye itself and enjoy the scenic drive past the dramatic
Cuillin Hills and through the island's capital, Portree. We arrive at the port of Uig from where we take a ferry to Lochmaddy on the Isle of Benbecula, our destination for the next two nights.

Day 3

South Uist & the Isle of Eriskay
This morning, we explore stunning South Uist, an island of the Outer Hebrides with crystal clear water and white powder beaches. We drive past the ruins of the 18th century Ormacleit Castle towards the Isle of Eriskay, which is linked to South Uist by a stone causeway. The beautiful little island of Eriskay is home to the bay where Bonnie Prince Charlie first set foot on Scottish soil. It is also known for its famous ponies, which are semi-wild and often seen wandering around the village. On our return, we visit the Hebridean Jewellery Shop and Workshop where we have the chance to purchase some quality handcrafted silver and gold jewellery.

Day 4

Island hopping: Benbecula, Harris & Lewis
Today, we travel northwards across North Uist, alongside 13 miles of stunning sandy beaches, fresh water lochs and rolling moorland hills before reaching Berneray, reputedly one of HRH Prince Charles' favourite destinations. From here, we board the ferry to Leverburgh on the Isle of Harris, which offers an incredibly diverse landscape, from
the inhospitable, rocky shore in the east to the golden sandy beaches in the west. On arrival, we visit St Clement's Church, Rodel, which was built in around 1500. The Isle of Harris is linked by road to the Isle of Lewis and the drive passes some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in the whole of the UK. We visit the Isle of Scalpay and admire its lovely waterfront villages before making our way to our final destination of the day, Stornoway, the capital of Lewis, where we settle into our hotel for two nights. Stornoway is a delightful destination offering excellent shopping opportunities, a host of traditional pubs and a harbour with a healthy seal population!

Day 5

5 Isle of Lewis
We remain on the Isle of Lewis today and enjoy a tour of the island's fantastic scenery. Lewis is the largest and most populated of the Western Isles, although it remains refreshingly unspoilt and uncrowded. Home to some of the most important seabird colonies in the UK, the Isle of Lewis is a haven to all forms of wildlife. There is history and heritage to be discovered too and the island has more than its fair share of archaeological sites to explore. During our circular tour of the island, we visit Carloway Broch, an ancient Iron Age fortification and enjoy a visit to the mystic Calanais Visitor Centre where we will be able to see the Callanish Standing Stones, one of the best preserved megalithic sites in the whole of Scotland. We will also visit Gearrannan Blackhouse Village and step back in time as we experience the way of life in a typical crofting township of the 19th century.

Day 6

Stornoway & Ullapool
This morning, we enjoy some free time to relax and explore the town of Stornoway with a chance to snap up a last-minute bargain in one of the Harris Tweed shops. We will then board the early afternoon ferry to Ullapool and continue towards our chosen overnight destination.

Day 7

We leave our overnight hotel and head home with suitable stop on the way.
