We travel to Laxey for a view of the iconic “Lady Isabella the world’s largest working water wheel and then head to Ramsey for a visit to Milntown Gardens, 15 acres of gardens and woodlands in a historical setting. Throughout the gardens there are many excellent specimens of rhododendrons, magnolias, camellias and the herbaceous borders are awash with bright and bold colours, there are woodland walks and a mill pond, sheltered by mature trees and shrub and kitchen garden with a wide range of traditional, heritage and modern varieties of vegetables, herbs and flowers. There is a day at leisure in Douglas and finally a full day’s tour of the south includes a train ride to Port Erin, a visit to the Cregneash National Folk Museum for an insight in to traditional Manx farming and croft way of life and time in Peel the best example of a typical Manx town.

 

Rutland Hotel, Douglas

Situated at the northern end of Douglas Promenade overlooking Douglas Bay, the 3 star hotel offers contemporary accommodation and a bright and airy restaurant. The hotel has a lift but the steep entrance does make this hotel unsuitable for people with extreme walking difficulties.

Day 1

After being picked up from home by our Door to Door service and brought through to the coach, it's off to Heysham for the crossing to Douglas. A suitable stop will be made on the way to Heysham and we set sail at 2.15 in the afternoon and arrive in Douglas at 5.45. It's a short drive from the ferry terminal to the hotel so you will have time to unpack and freshen up before the evening meal.

Visit the Great Laxey Wheel & Mines Trail and on to Milntown House

Day 4

Heading south, by train to Port Erin then by coach to the Cregneash Folk Museum. Then on Peel before returning to the hotel.

Day 5

After breakfast we head straight for the ferry port for the return sailing to Heysham and then straight back to East Yorkshire where one of our Door to Door vehicles will be waiting to take you back home. A suitable stop will be made between Heysham and home.
