As the seasons pass and winter becomes spring, the Isle of Wight blossoms and becomes the ideal place for a relaxing retreat. The journey to the Isle of Wight begins with a coach ride to Portsmouth, here we will catch the ferry, and expect to arrive at our hotel in Shanklin, leaving you plenty of time to get settled before dinner. Tuesday morning sees us venture to Ventnor Botanic Gardens, where a collection of subtropical and exotic plants thrive in the micro climate of the Undercliff. We will also visit the quaint little village of Godshill, home to some of the islands oldest and prettiest architecture. Wednesday gives you the chance to explore Shanklin, a place famous for its sandy beaches and love of water sports. As well as being a traditional seaside resort, the town offers a wide range of attractions including Rylstone Gardens, and the Chine - the Isle of White's oldest tourist attraction. Our last day on the Island begins with a visit to the Isle of Wight Pearl Centre, home to one of the largest collections of pearl jewellery in the UK. After browsing the collection - and possibly making a purchase or two - we continue along the coastal road to Freshwater Bay, which offers spectacular views of the famous Needles. The cherished site can also be seen perfectly from the Needles Park at Alum Bay. The Bay also boasts beautiful views of the coloured sands cliffs, as well as being home to a shopping Emporium, the Alum Bay Glass shop and Sweet shop. The more adventurous among us may wish to take the chairlift down to the beach (cost not included). . For the duration of our trip, we will be staying at the - Bourne Country House Hotel in Shanklin.
