Flavours of Kent and Leeds Castle

Flavours of Kent and Leeds Castle

Door to Door Service

The historic county of Kent is renowned not only for its rural beauty but also has more castles than any other county. Our holiday showcases not only some of the fine wine, ales and cheese produced in the county but we have also chosen to visit "The Lovliest Castle in The World", Leeds Castle. We enjoy the delights of the wine of award-winning Chapel Down Winery, ales of The Old Dairy Brewery and award-winning cheeses of Cheesemakers of Canterbury. All producers share a great pride in not only using the finest locally sourced ingredients for their produce but also in using the traditional methods of their crafts. Breath-taking Leeds Castle offers visitors a splendid day out with its 500 acres of beautiful parkland, formal gardens and falconry displays.

We'll leave mid-afternoon to continue to the hotel aiming to arrive in time for you to relax before dinner.

Day 2

This morning we travel to award winning Chapel Down Winery where we will enjoy a guided tour of the vineyards, we'll learn how the English climate is used to grow fantastic ripe fruit. In the winery, we'll see the processes used to transform great fruit into great wines and how the sparkling wines are made using the intricate Traditional Method. This afternoon, we visit the Old Dairy Brewery, which is housed in two WW1 Nissan buildings, one of which has been converted into a new 30-barrel brewery, complete with shop, bar and meeting room "The Parlour" and the other houses the offices and warehousing operation. Our guided tour of their finely crafted ales will show how they only use the finest malts and hops to brew their beers, most of which are grown in Kent.

Day 3

We spend the day at Leeds Castle, known as the "Lovliest Castle in The World". This magnificent 12th century castle rises majestically from the waters of its moat and is surrounded by 500 acres of parkland and gardens. The Castle has been a Norman stronghold, the home of 6 of England's medieval queens and a palace used by Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon. There are many splendid works of arts, including statues, carvings and tapestries. There is a Bird of Prey centre housing birds from many different species, gardens, maze, land train and Black Swan ferry that crosses the lake. (A charge applies for the train and ferry).

This morning we visit Cheesemakers of Canterbury, home to the award-winning Ashmore Farmhouse and Kelly's Canterbury Goat a wide selection of other unpasteurised and pasteurised cheeses. We spend the afternoon in Canterbury where you will have free time to enjoy and explore the city on your own.
