Eastbourne's historical and award winning sea front is at the very heart of our visit to the Sussex Coast. We visit the historic town of Battle, where in 1066 the famous Battle of Hastings took place and in the afternoon we visitPashley Manor Gardens, an award winning quintessential English Garden, which boasts over 100 varieties of roses. A free day in Eastbourne gives you the chance to explore its award-winning seafront and harbour, as well as the 1930's bandstand and Victorian Pier. You may wish to catch the bus to Hastings to visit the castle remains, preserved Old Town, or the steepest funicular railway in Britain. A tour the Sussex coast & countryside begins with a visit to the nearby Beachy Head, famed for its chalk sea cliffs, before travelling to Lewes where we explore the Castle. From here we take a scenic drive around the West Sussex countryside, passing through Steyning and Worthing, before arriving in the colourful and vibrant Brighton.

 

For the duration of our trip, we will be staying at the - Best Western Lansdowne Hotel in Eastbourne. The 3*hotel is located on the seafront overlooking the Western Lawns & Wish Tower, with splendid views of Beachy Head and the sea. The hotel has five lounges, a bar, restaurant and games room with pool, table tennis & snooker. The bedrooms are en-suite and have TV, tea & coffee making facilities and hairdryer.

Day 1

The holiday starts with a pick up from home by one of our taxis or minibuses which will bring you through to the coach. Once everybody is on board we head down the A1 stopping off in Peterborough round lunchtime and then on to Eastbourne and arriving at the hotel in good time to check in and unpack before dinner.

Day 2

We start the day with a visit to the historic town of Battle, where one of England's most famous battles took place in 1066 and visit the famous Abbey. We spend the afternoon at Pashley Manor Gardens, an award winning quintessential English garden. A guided tour with the head gardener, lasting about one and a half hours has been arranged so that you can fully appreciate its sumptuous blend of romantic landscaping, fountains, springs and dazzling array of colourful displays.

Day 3

A free day to day to explore Eastbourne with its award-winning seafront, famous Carpet Gardens, Napoleonic fortress, harbour, 1930's bandstand and Victorian Pier. Maybe you want to venture further afield and visit nearby Beachy Head or even catch the bus to Hastings with its castle remains, a preserved Old Town and the steepest funicular railway in Britain.

Day 4

We take a tour of the Sussex coast & countryside starting with a visit to Beachy Head before travelling to Lewes where we stop for a drink and visit to the Castle. From here we take a scenic run round the West Sussex countryside, passing through Steyning and Worthing before arriving in Brighton. Take a walk through the historic Lanes pedestrian area finishing outside the Royal Pavilion. Experience the heritage of the Royal Pavilion, the Volks Railway - Britain's oldest electric railway and a taste of the Mediterranean at the Marina. We return to the hotel late in the afternoon in plenty of time to get ready for the final evening's dinner

Day 5

Sadly its tie to return home today and we leave the hotel straight after breakfast and head for Yorkshire. A break in Cambridge round lunchtime and then on to Beverley arriving back early in the evening. From here, one of our Door to Door vehicles will return you home
