Door to Door Service

Cambridgeshire is home to some of the country’s most beloved towns and cities, join us as we visit of its highlights.

Our trip to Cambridgeshire begins with a coach ride to our hotel in Huntingdon – a beautiful market town which is famed for being the birthplace of Oliver Cromwell. Our exploration of the county includes a visit to the Thoroughbred Stud Farm in Newmarket. You will be able to go behind the scenes of the working farm, which gives you a wonderful insight into the breeding world of Race Horses.

We will visit the Cathedral City of Ely, where we will discover how one man’s vision helped to transform a run-down country house into an elegant home, complete with a celebrated garden and working watermill at Anglesey Abbey.  Our final day in the county sees us spend a day at the university city of Cambridge. We will enjoy a guided coach tour of the beautiful city, before giving you the chance to explore the historic streets and shops at your own leisure. We return home to Beverly the following day, but not before a visit to Lincoln.

For the duration of our trip we will be staying at the - Huntingdon Marriott Hotel. This 4hotel is located on the outskirts of Huntingdon.  There is a leisure club with indoor pool, sauna, steam room and whirlpool.  Brooke’s restaurant in the hotel is a classic restaurant with a modern twist and there is a comfortable bar area.  Disabled access ground floor rooms are available on request and the hotel does have a lift. All bedrooms have air-conditioning, bathrobes, hairdryer, TV and tea/coffee making facilities.

Day 1

The holiday starts with a pick up from home by one of the vehicles from our Door to Door service which will bring you through to our coach. Once on board we make our way to Huntingdon, a quaint market town where you will find an assortment of cafes, bars and restaurants, a pedestrianized shopping centre offering a choice of boutiques and national shops. Huntingdon's riverside park is a great place to relax and watch the fourth longest river in England, The River Great Ouse, go by. We'll leave late afternoon to make the short journey to our hotel allowing you plenty of time to relax before dinner

Day 2

After a leisurely breakfast we make our way to Anglesey Abbey, the former run down priory that was transformed by the future Lord Fairhaven into a home from where his guests enjoyed 1930s luxury. The beautiful furniture, clocks, silverwares books and paintings can all be seen at the Abbey today. He created extensive landscaped gardens and planted them for all seasons so they can be enjoyed throughout the year.

Day 3

This morning we have arranged for a two hour guided walking tour of Cambridge. The city of Cambridge is well known for its university which was founded in 1209 and is consistently ranked as one of the top 5 universities in the world. After the tour you will have free time to have lunch (not included in the cost of your holiday) before joining us for a traditional chauffeured punting tour on the River Cam to enjoy a different view of the city.

Day 4

Our excursion today takes us to The National Stud, the showcase for British Thoroughbred breeding. Comprising over 500 acres of prime pastureland on the edge of Newmarket, our 90 minute tour will be taken on foot and on the coach. We will be given an introduction into the history and purpose of The National Stud as a commercial thoroughbred breeding operation. After our tour, we'll take the short journey to the market town of Newmarket where we'll stop for a couple of hours giving you the chance to explore this unique and historic town with its various wonderful quirks such as horse walks, horse traffic lights and horse training ground that runs right into the town centre.

Day 5

Sadly it's time to return home today but we have time for an afternoon visit to the historic city of Lincoln with its wide choice of cafes and shops and famous for its Cathedral and Castle. Lincoln is also home to one of the only four remaining copies of the Magna Carta and 2015 marks the 800th anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta so you may wish to take time to visit the new home and visitor centre for Lincolns Magna Carta in The Castle. We leave Lincoln to arrive in Beverley early evening from where one of our Door to Door vehicles will take you home.
