  Famous for its golden sands and clean sea, and described Thomas Hardy as “a Mediterranean lounging place on the English Channel,” Bournemouth is renowned as one of our most popular resorts.

 

  During the break we will take a scenic drive through the New Forest. In Brockenhurst & Lyndhurst we will witness the beautiful thatched cottages, before seeing a wide range of wildlife until our arrival in Salisbury – ‘the city in the countryside- famous for its breath taking cathedral.

 

  An excursion to Compton Acres, home to ten acres of beautiful gardens and voted one of the most beautiful in Europe. With seven distinct gardens to explore, Compton Acres offers a fascinating journey through the gardens of the world. We will finish the day with a visit to Poole, home to the second largest natural harbour in the world.  You will also get the chance to explore the streets of Bournemouth and the town’s interesting literary past.

Day 1

Once you have been picked up from home by one of our Door to Door vehicles and boarded our Elite coach, we head for Bournemouth making a lunchtime stop in Stratford upon Avon. We then continue on to the hotel, arriving in plenty of time to unpack and freshen up before dinner.

Day 2

Following breakfast we head for the New Forest passing through Brockenhurst and stopping off for a while in Lyndhurst. There will be plenty of stops for photos as we continue on to Salisbury often described as a City within the Countryside. Once you have had chance to have something to eat you will all meet up at the Cathedral for a guided tour of this vibrant church with Britain's tallest spire and best preserved Magna Carter. Then it's back to Bournemouth in time for dinner.

Day 3

A day at leisure in Bournemouth. There is so much to see and do in Bournemouth. 7 miles of golden beaches, award winning parks & gardens, famous pier, shops, restaurants, cafes & bars the list is endless. Take a ride on the land train, follow the woodland trail or simply relax at the hotel and make use of the excellent leisure facilities.

Day 4

We start with a morning visit to Compton Gardens. Built in 1924 and covering some 10 acres it is of late Victorian Mixed style design with seven distinct gardens to wander round and enjoy .Having undergone extensive refurbishment in the last 8 years it is now regarded as one of the most important historic gardens in Britain. Enjoy a bite to eat in one of the cafes and visit the Plant Centre and shops before we leave for Poole where we spend a couple of hours before returning to the hotel for the final evening's meal.

Day 5

Leaving after breakfast, we start the journey home stopping in Oxford round lunchtime and then arriving back in Beverley about 6pm where one of our Door to Door vehicles will be waiting to take you home

  We will be spending the duration of our four night stay at the Menzies Carlton Hotel. Set high on the East Cliff, the four*Hotel offers exceptional views across Bournemouth Bay and is regarded as one of the finest in Dorset. A ten minute walk from the pier, the hotel boasts both an award winning restaurant and an excellent waves and health leisure centre. Rooms with sea views are available at a supplement, please ask for details.
