Situated in the middle of the Irish Sea, the Isle of Man has some stunning scenery and intricate coastline. Visit Peel, said to be the best example of a typical Manx town, travel over part of the TT course to Ramsey and then travel from there by train to the summit of the mighty Snaefell. Spend a morning in resort before visiting Laxey, home of the iconic "Lady Isabella the world's largest working water wheel and follow the Mines Trail. Take a steam train ride to Port Erin and then travel by coach to the Cregneash Folk Museum for a living, working illustration of life in a typical 19th century Manx upland crofting community.

 

The Empress Hotel - Douglas

A cosy 3-star hotel situated on the central promenade overlooking Douglas Bay, with a cosy bar and excellent restaurant. There are 18 steps in to the hotel but wheelchair access is available via the ground floor restaurant. There are no ground floor bedrooms but there is a lift (suitable for small wheelchairs) please be aware not all rooms have level access from the lift as there are small steps along the corridor. The bedrooms all have TV, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer telephone and free WiFi

Day 1

After being picked up from home by our Door to Door service and brought through to the coach, it's off to Heysham for the crossing to Douglas. A suitable stop will be made on the way to Heysham and we set sail at 2.15 in the afternoon and arrive in Douglas at 5.45. It's a short drive from the ferry terminal to the hotel so you will have time to unpack and freshen up before the evening meal.

Day 2

Spend a morning in resort before visiting Laxey, home of the iconic "Lady Isabella the world's largest working water wheel and follow the Mines Trail.

Day 3

The day starts with a visit to Peel, said to be the best example of a typical Manx town. We then travel over part of the TT course to Ramsey and from there by train to the summit of the mighty Snaefell before returning to the hotel by coach.

Day 4

Firstly, we take a steam train ride to Port Erin and then travel by coach to the Cregneash Folk Museum for a living, working illustration of life in a typical 19th century Manx upland crofting community.

Day 5

After breakfast we head straight for the ferry port for the return sailing to Heysham and then back to East Yorkshire where one of our Door to Door vehicles will be waiting to take you back home. A suitable stop will be made between Heysham and home.
